Marc Oberdorff Joins Pope Flynn as Senior Counsel

Marc Oberdorff is a native of Cleveland, Ohio and a graduate of Princeton University and the Georgetown University Law Center, with more than 30 years of experience as a federal tax and public finance attorney.
Marc has developed his practice primarily in the federal income tax aspects of public finance, with additional experience in a variety of other federal tax areas, including 501(c)(3) exempt organizations, derivatives, asset securitization transactions, and corporate and partnership tax issues.
He has served as bond counsel or tax counsel for obligations issued by a wide range of cities (including Chicago and Cleveland), counties, state agencies (including water, student loan, and highway authorities), special districts, and “63-20” corporations, among other issuers. The projects financed with these bond issues have included airports, universities, stadiums and other sports facilities, utilities, recycling projects, multifamily housing, and intermodal freight facilities. He has assisted clients in complying with the arbitrage and rebate requirements of federal tax law, has represented clients in audits conducted by the IRS and state tax authorities, and has litigated cases before the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States Tax Court.
Marc has taught tax and corporate law as an adjunct faculty member at the Cleveland Marshall College of Law, has written and lectured on the tax aspects of municipal bonds, and has served on a number of seminar panels and committees of the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
